Your child’s care doesn’t have to end with their PHP or IOP. The aftercare program helps kids successfully transition.
For many kids, the end of their time in Direction's PHP and IOP are both a source of pride but also of anxiety (sometimes for their families, too!). Transitioning from the structure and support of their Direction experience to their normal lives can be quite a challenge. To help ensure a successful transition, we offer Aftercare Groups.
Your recovery journey continues after your PHP or IOP. These structured programs provide a strong foundation, but ongoing growth and support are key for treatment. We at Direction are another layer of your support system, and we are here to help you navigate the next steps.
In addition to those from New Hampshire and Massachusetts, we have families who travel from Vermont and Maine to seek our unique approach to mental health treatment.
Medication management is provided through external services once your child is in the Aftercare program. Please note that we don’t collaborate with other providers in this program, as it’s a stand-alone service kids can take advantage of from time to time.
Our Aftercare Groups are integrated with our IOP and take place on:
Aftercare clients are incorporated directly into IOP Groups. We believe this integrated design will provide maximal clinical benefit by allowing kids completing the IOP to continue to participate in the Direction experience.
The only differences are that Aftercare clients will participate for only a portion of the day, and medication management needs to be controlled by outside providers.
Our Aftercare Groups operate with a fluid, open membership, allowing clients to choose their level of participation from week to week. This flexible approach empowers you and your child to take an active role in their recovery, offering the freedom to attend as frequently or infrequently as you feel is necessary each week.
If your child would like to attend, please call Catie (preferably in the morning) at 603-880-8188 Ext 1. We recommend doing so a few days prior to attending to reserve your seat.
Our Parenting Groups are open to the public. Many parents whose children are no longer in the program continue to come. Anyone is welcome—including parents without a child attending. Here, you’ll get a window into your child’s experience with us, and you’ll be introduced to our Wholeistic Education method of treatment.
We recommend all parents attending our Parenting Group look over our
Parenting Handbook.
As our clients move back into daily life, it’s important to stay connected with resources that promote long-term recovery, such as therapy sessions, attending support groups, and personalized aftercare plans.
With Direction by your side, you’re never alone on your path to lasting wellness. We hope to hear from you soon.
